I as a driver for 15 years have always driven rather swiftly. And fast driving leaves little time to always monitor the dash panel. I have always worried that the oil pressure would drop out or the temp would rise too fast. This is my solution. Lights always catch the eye so I designed this circuit to inform me when there was a problem. The following is the circuit design for the project. The parts are listed on the diagram. This circuit will monitor Fuel level, Oil pressure, Temp, Under voltage.

All of the resistors are 1/4 watt 5%. The zener diode is a 10v model. S1 - S6 can be jumpers.

The trigger points can be obtained from behind the instrument panel in the following locations.

  • Fuel trigger splices into point 30    .5 pink
  • Temp trigger splices into point  35   .5 dark green
  • Oil trigger splices into point  31    .8 tan
  • The Voltage triggers off of 12v Ign.

This is where I decided to place the lights on my dash. I know the oil is hard to see but it is there on the right.

I had also added the headlight warning buzzer to my circuit and placed it in the spot under the headlight switch. There was plenty of room for the circuit.

When you finish installing, you will have to set the jumpers (switches) to operate properly. Then you will need to adjust the set points by rotating the pots.
